Invite a Neighbor to Dinner Day
In this season of good will towards our fellow man, I would like to express my hope
that everyone had a happy and safe holiday season. I look forward to a new
year serving the people of the 10th Senatorial District.
I also want to focus for a moment on a resolution that passed back in November.
Pennsylvania Senate Resolution #306 marks every second Saturday of January as Invite
a Neighbor to Dinner Day.ô The brainchild of the Smith
family of Doylestown, the concept is a rededication of suppertime as a community
building tool. Inspired by the need to make a difference stemming from the
destruction of September 11th, Invite a Neighbor to Dinner Dayô seeks to open doors,
mend fences and build community relationships.
In this uncertain world, it was not difficult to see the value in such a simple yet,
wonderful initiative of creating positive relationships within our neighborhoods.
When approached to make it official, it was something that I was more than willing
to do.
Passing the resolution was easy, but the Smith family has gone the extra mile to
make this project a real success. I invite you to peruse their site devoted
to the project.
I encourage everyone to make the effort and on January 11th invite a neighbor to
dinner. |
