A RESOLUTION
1 Proclaiming the second Saturday in January as "Invite
A Neighbor
2 To Dinner Day."
3 WHEREAS, Following the events
of September 11, 2001, average
4 Americans have sought ways to make a difference;
and
5 WHEREAS, In times of trouble,
Americans have traditionally
6 displayed a kind heart and open door for their neighbors;
and
7 WHEREAS, An effective means of
celebrating American values is
8 to get to know or mend fences with one's neighbors;
therefore be
9 it
10 RESOLVED, That the Senate proclaim
the second Saturday of
11 January of each year to be "Invite A Neighbor To
Dinner Day" as
12 a celebration of the values our country is built upon
and a way
13 to foster understanding, compassion and tolerance within
our
14 neighborhoods.
